NAYEN "Memo" Service Project

The idea of a book donation was first introduced in 2007, at the then USA-Canada Conference in Philadelphia, PA.
President Dan Bronson had the vision of many people making a small contribution of a single book, which would have a big impact on a local impoverished school. Each year the North American Youth Exchange Network (NAYEN) provides local school(s) with books and literacy supplies as a way of giving back to the city, in which the conference is held.
 
The NAYEN Book Project was renamed the “Memo” Service Project in memory of Rotarian Guillermo Lopez Portillo who passed away November 24, 2015. Guillermo was an avid supporter of NAYEN and Rotary Youth Exchange. Rotarian Guillermo Lopez Portillo was fondly known to most as “Memo".
 

2020 Beneficiary: Seamos Todos A.C.

The beneficiary of the 2020 conference is Seamos Todos, AC a local Monterrey group who focuses on:
  • Children from 45 days to 12 years of age, with difficulties accessing food, health, and education programs.
  • Mothers from 12 to 50 years of age in vulnerable conditions with all the spirit of improving their personal and family condition.
In addition to books, Seamos Todos has requested more basic supplies.

Service Project

The service project on Sunday will start in the morning and will likely be done by noon, with a lunch and party to follow on site. If you are planning to fly out after, we recommend booking your flight after 3 or 4 pm.
We will have space for 40 participants for the service project on Sunday.
